Joel T. Skarin, age 43, of Omaha Nebraska, formerly of Grinnell, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha of cancer. Graveside service: 1:30 p.m., Friday May 14, 2021 at the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn with Pastor Joyce Proctor officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.
He is survived by his mother, Lucinda (Sue) Skarin-Shook of Omaha, NE., his sister Candace Skarin Innis of Council Bluffs; and two nephews Donny Biggs and Devin Biggs.
Joel was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Skarin.
Joel Thomas Skarin was born April 1, 1977 in Platteville, WI the son of Ralph and Lucinda (Ely) Skarin. He attended Grinnell-Newburg School. Joel worked at Advanced Auto Parts in Council Bluffs. After moving to Omaha, he worked at Jensen Tire. Joel had a knack for the automobile industry, later he started working at Werner Enterprises taking care of the big trucks in the collision department for 18 years. Joel was a jack of all trades and could do almost anything he was asked. He was a multitasker and could walk circles around people and still get the job done. Joel was good with his hands and could fix anything. He rebuilt a 1989 Tans Am, he was currently working on rebuilding a 1969 Firebird. Joel was always very proud of his work.
