HARPER-Lonnie "Joe" Baker, age 78, of Harper, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his home.
Joe was born October 27, 1943, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Earl J. and Freda (Gottman) Baker and attended Keota Schools. On May 5, 1967, he married Connie Black in Washington. They lived in the Keota and Harper communities all their married lives. Joe drove a truck for W.C. Gretter & Sons in Harper for over 40 years. He enjoyed bowling, which he finally gave up two years ago, camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife: Connie of Harper; three daughters: Michele of Richland, Teresa (Leeland) Corley of Phoenix, Arizona and Cathy (Bill) Clubb of Harper; two granddaughters: Maci and Rylee Corley of Phoenix; three nephews: Rick, Jeff and Rodney Miller; several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Lois Miller and brother-in-law: Lonnie Miller.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Rev. Cathy Nutting officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the funeral home.
