Joan Morrow, 69, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, formerly of the Quad Cities, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at her home following a brief battle with cancer. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Adam officiating. Burial will be in the Salem South Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Central Iowa and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Born April 5, 1938, in Milwaukee WI, Joan was the daughter of John "Jack" and Agnes Stano Aicher. Her family moved to Sigourney, IA where she graduated from high school in 1956. She then attended the University of Iowa. Mrs. Morrow spent most of her adult life in the Quad City area. On August 30, 2002, she married Leon Morrow at Midwest Old Threshers in Mt. Pleasant and continued to live near Mt. Pleasant until her death. Mrs. Morrow was employed by the Quad City Times. She later worked as a secretary for an accounting firm and was active as a real estate agent. For over 20 years, Joan was employed as a purchaser for the Center for Alcohol and Drug Services. She spent countless hours as a moderator for alcoholic therapy sessions at work. Joan loved playing bingo and golfing. She proudly recorded a hole-in-one at the Springbrook Country Club in Dewitt, IA. She loved spending time at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion. She also took up riding motorcycles at the age of 65. Survivors include her husband Leon Morrow of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one son, David (Erin) Harrington of Buffalo, IA; three step-daughters, Nancy Jenkins, Sandy Melton and Sally Baker; and eight step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two step great-grandchildren.
