Joan M. Miller

Wellman-Joan Mildred Miller of Wellman was born July 27, 1932 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Lester Earl and Blanche Esther (Graham) Small.  She graduated from Wellman High School.  Joan was united in marriage to Paul E. Miller on March 11, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They were blessed with 72 years of marriage.  Joan was a hospital technician at the University of Iowa Hospital for 23 years.  She enjoyed attending flea markets, bird watching, collecting jewelry, playing cards and most of all spending time with her family and friends.  Joan passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at the English Valley Care Center in North English, at the age of 90 years. 

She is survived by her husband Paul of Wellman; five children Kevin (Trudi) Miller of Iowa City, Kathy Steckly of North Liberty, Kirby (Anita) Miller of Winslow, AR, Kelly (Terry) Yoder and Kay Peiffer and special friend Woody Swantz both of Kalona; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters Gertrude in infancy, Donna Hudson and Betty Grace and her brother Frederick Small.
