Jim married the love of his life, Linda Deao, on June 10, 1966, at the Lockridge Baptist Church. She still survives and has been his care taker since day one of his diagnoses of Alzheimer's and then Cancer. They celebrated almost 51 years of marriage.Jim started his working career at a young age where he worked not only on the family farm but Rauscher Feed House and drove a feed truck for Russell Rich. He then went onto work at Parsons College as a plumber's helper and Fairfield Engineering. Jim then worked at JI Case in Burlington for 30 plus years as a welder and Union Steward alongside his three brothers where he then retired. After his retirement, Jim helped his son, Harold, with his excavating business of HP for a short time due to his failing health.Jim loved spending his time with his family no matter what it consisted of. He passed on his love of fishing and hunting to his son and grandsons and enjoyed taking them to auctions. He raced four wheelers for several years with his son and son in-law and then grandkids. He loved to see his granddaughter perform on stage whether it be cheerleading, dancing, or pageants. Jim's most recent activities were cheering on his favorite sprint car driver, his son in the 50P (Jim's old race number) Herky, going to Chicago to visit his granddaughter, celebrating his grandson going to work for NASA this summer, and helping his daughter and son in law with her new salon. As everyone who knew Jim knew he was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand as well as his love for children.
