SIGOURNEY-Jessie Belle Sellers, age 85, of Sigourney, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at her home, following a battle with Hodgkins disease. Jessie was born August 28, 1919, near Webster, Iowa, the daughter of William and Alice (Thompson) Kephart. She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1937. On December 31, 1938, she married Cleo Sellers in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. The couple lived in Keokuk County all their married lives, where Jessie worked as an office assistant at the Keokuk County Extension Office. She later retired as Manager of the Iowa Job Employment Service in Keokuk County. Jessie was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church, where she was a deacon, former trustee and taught Sunday School for 26 years. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, Sigourney Women's Club and formerly served as Chairperson of the Keokuk County Democrats. Survivors include her husband: Cleo of Sigourney; two daughters: Pamela Hildebrand and husband Gary of Van Buren, Arkansas and Debra Walker and husband Dave of Arkansas City, Kansas; five grandchildren: Melanie Locke, Meleia Cox, Michelle Hildebrand, Jeff Walker and James Walker; six great grandchildren: Kristin, Kamryn, River, Terry, Katie and Allison and three brothers: William Kephart of Champaign, Illinois, Norman Kephart of Comstock, Wisconsin and Russell Kephart of Decorah, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Lillian, Katherine, Rose and Esther and one brother: Norval Kephart. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Sigourney Christian Church with Pastor Jim Bringman officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2005, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney, where the family will be present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Sigourney Christian Church or Hospice of Keokuk County. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
