Jesse Brower

June 15, 1931 — February 19, 2016

Jesse Brower, 84, of Lockridge, IA, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, IA. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28th from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. A visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. with funeral service following at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Bible Holiness Church in Cherokee, KS, with Rev. Winfield Poe officiating. Internment will be in the Cherokee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Holiness Pilgrim Mission, P. O. Box 658, Shoals, IN 47581. Born June 15, 1931 in New Florence, MO, Jesse was the son of Harry and Ruth (McManamy) Brower. Being born again in the fall of 1943, he attended high school at Independence Bible School in Independence, KS. He married Anna Ruth Uttley on May 24, 1952 two days after they both were in the first graduating class of the school. In the 1980's he attended Union Bible College, Westfield, IN, while working the night shift at Best Lock, which was one of the many interim jobs he had during his lifetime. Jesse's devotion to the Lord's work, as pastor and missionary, took him all over the United States and other countries including old Mexico, Fiji Islands and Haiti. He spent the last sixteen years doing deputation work for Holiness Pilgrim Mission. Jesse never met a stranger and told many of the innocence of his sons. If he had one his name would have been David. Survivors include six daughters, Esther (Calvin) Whitaker of Anderson, IN, Elaine (Tim) Millard of Lockridge, IA, Ellen (James) Krueger of Morrison, MO, Betty Shreffler of Owasso, OK, Becky Hunt of Springfield, MO, and Margaret (Gary) Skipper of Troy, OH; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife (June 25, 2015), seven brothers: Harry Jr., Paul, Bobby, John, Joel, Philip, Sam, and one sister Gertrude.
