North English-Jerome "Jerry" T. Lawrence was born July 28, 1935 in Lansing, Iowa, the son of Harley and Emily (O'Neil) Lawrence. He graduated from Cassville High School. Jerry served in the service from 1956-1958. He was united in marriage to Joanne Vogt on November 18, 1961 in Cassville, Wisconsin. The couple lived in a number of different communities following Jerry's work as a program analyst Retiring 7 years ago they made their home in North English. In North English he worked part time as a English Valley Elementary Custodian. Jerry was a avid Cubs fan, enjoyed photography, HAM radio, reading, gardening, working with electronics and spending time with his grandsons. Jerry died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after complications from surgery at the age of 71 years. He is survived by his wife Joanne of North English; three sons: Matt (Tammy) Lawrence of North English, Andy (Debbie) Lawrence of Las Vegas, NV and Mike of Cedar Rapids; a daughter: Wendy Williams of Renton, WA; eight grandsons; three brothers: Jim (Marilyn) Lawrence of LaCrosse, WI, Ray (Gretchen) Lawrence of Cassville, WI and John (Penny) Lawrence of Brownsville, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Robert, Bruce and Guy Lawrence. Funeral Mass will be 12:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Fr. Pat Lumsden will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. There will be a prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation Tuesday will be from 10:00 am until service time at the church. Burial will be Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the St. Charles Cemetery in Cassville, WI.
