Jerome George Krogmeier, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Arbor Court. Visitation for Mr. Krogmeier will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, beginning after 12 noon, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, IA, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. that evening. The family will greet friends following the rosary. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or Great River Hospice. Born on February 6, 1921, in Fort Madison, IA, Jerome was the son of Stephen A. and Catherine Hermes Krogmeier. He married Gertrude E. Fraise on May 5, 1942, in St. Paul, IA. She survives. Jerome grew up in the Fort Madison area. He was a farmer and farmed in the Salem, West Point, and Fairfield areas. He moved to the Mt. Pleasant in 1967 and had farmed there until his health kept him from farming these past few years. Jerome was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He liked playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and playing cards with family and friends. Along with his wife, Jerome is survived by six sons, Marvin Krogmeier and his wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Melvin Krogmeier and his wife Beverly of Salem, IA, Orville Krogmeier and his wife Tracy of West Point, IA, Rodger Krogmeier and his wife Karen of Lockridge, IA, Gregory Krogmeier and his wife Cindy of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Louis Krogmeier and his wife Rosie of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one daughter, Monica and her husband Gene Klopfenstein of Wayland, IA; one brother Francis "Charlie" Krogmeier and his wife Mary of Fort Madison, IA; and one sister Emerald and her husband Bob Stevenson of Niota, IL. Jerome is also survived by twenty grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and three step-great-great grandchildren. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Lou Tousignant; four brothers, Peter Krogmeier, Paul Krogmeier, Albert Krogmeier, and Alfred "Sam" Krogmeier; and five sisters, Edith Brandt, Hilda Fedler, Cornelia Thomas, Josephine Wagner, and Irma Bergmeier.
