Jerome H. Damerval

SIGOURNEY-Jerome Henri “Jerry” Damerval, age 88, of Sigourney, died Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.

Jerry was born August 6, 1936, in What Cheer, the son of Henri and Glema (Johannes) Damerval and graduated from What Cheer High School. He then served in the U.S. Army. Jerry married Mary Ann Martin and they had two children. He was employed by Benner Tea Company Grocery in Sigourney from September of 1953 until March of 1972. He then worked at First Trust & Savings Bank (now MidWest One) until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church, where he sang in the choir and served as an elder and on various committees. Jerry enjoyed his family, gardening, cooking and woodworking.

Survivors include his children: Craig (Barbara) Damerval and Janet Coppock; four grandchildren: Christian Damerval and fiancé Madde Jones, Kaitlyn (Andrew) Buenger, Braxton (Megan Hambleton) Lancial and Brittney (Andrew) Falco; great granddaughter: Adelyn; two step-children: Dana (Shane Buseman) Abell and Justin (Becky) Abell; six step grandchildren: Blake Buseman, Breann (Ethan Simmers) Buseman, Dallas (Katie) Paris, Hayley (Brett) Wright, Jasmine Abell and Joselyn (Brock) Ware; five step great grandchildren: Ridge, Barrett, Broderick, Leif and Wrenlee; brother: Jerri Damerval and sister: Judith Gatewood. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Janice Carmer.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Sigourney Christian Church, with Pastor Dan Glandon officiating. Burial will be at Garrett Cemetery near Delta. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.
