Williamsburg: Jeanne Jones (87) spent her first Christmas in Heaven on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.
Jeanne was born on May 24, 1931 in Keswick, Iowa to Wallace and Roine (Ridenour) Kinzler. The oldest of three children, her brothers Myron and Ron (Phyllis) Kinzler still reside in the Millersburg, Iowa area.
Jeanne was known for her ease in frequent conversation with friends and even total strangers. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and unwavering faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her incessant smiling and humor, will never be forgotten.
After graduating from Williamsburg High School, Jeanne worked as a secretary at the John Deere Corporation in Waterloo, Iowa. She married the love of her life, Leighton Jones, whom she met through the Pilot Grove and Ohio Methodist Church activities. They were married on June 4, 1950, at the Ohio Methodist Church in Ladora, Iowa. Leighton and Jeanne founded and operated Jones Fertilizer
(now J & S Farm Supply), a business serving the agricultural community. They faithfully attended Faith Baptist Church in Iowa City.
Possessing a true servant's heart, Jeanne was devoted to her family and friends through prayer and so many acts of kindness. With the loss of their third son, Norman, Leighton and Jeanne resolved to trust God and dedicate their lives to honor and serve Him. Jeanne worked alongside Leighton in the business and in nurturing their children at home, church, school, and through 4-H and FFA. For many years, she faithfully delivered "Meals on Wheels" even by snowmobile through a blizzard. She served as Sunday school teacher and actively supported East Iowa Bible Camp in Deep River, Iowa. The Jones home was always open for bible studies, visiting evangelists, missionaries, and stranded travelers from the interstate; all would leave having been well-fed and their hearts enriched. Jeanne was a woman of strong faith and love for her Savior.
"Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart:
for consider how great things he hath done for you." I Samuel 12:24
Jeanne is survived by: Bob (Sue) Jones of Williamsburg, (Bonnie) Jones of Greeley Colorado, Carol (Steven) Celarier of Cedar Rapids, and Tim (Kathy) Jones of Williamsburg; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Myron Kinzler and Ron (Phyllis) Kinzler both of Millersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
