KEOTA- Jean Wright, age 86, of Keota, died Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.
    Jean was born June 9, 1936, in Haskins, Iowa, the daughter of Erwin and Helen (Watkins) Koenig.  She attended country school in Washington County and graduated from Washington High School in 1954.  She then worked as a nurse’s aide for a short time.  Jean married David Eugene Wright on October 3, 1955 and moved to Keota.  They had five children: Carol, Charles, Debora, Ronald and Doug.  Jean was a homemaker and babysat for several children over the years.   She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and greatly enjoyed ball games.
    Survivors include a daughter: Debora Wright of Keota; two sons: Ronald (Tatia) Wright of Keota and Doug (Ann) Wright of Ankeny; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and two children: Carol Wright in infancy and Charles Wright.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the V.F.W. Hall in Keota from. Private family burial will be in the Keota Cemetery at a later date. 

    A memorial has been established for the Keota Ball Association. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Jean and her family.  Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
