Jay Lynn Patterson was born November 10, 1944 in Washington, Iowa, the son of John and Mabel (Bush) Patterson. He was married to Colleen Ayers and they had two children Lory and Joey, they later divorced. He married Shirley Cooper. He has lived in the Wellman community all of his life where he worked as an electrician, and was currently working in maintenance at Capital House Apartments in Iowa City. Jay died suddenly on Monday, April 28, 2014 at his home in Wellman at the age of 69 years. Jay is survived by his wife Shirley; daughter - Lory Young; son Joey (Tomi) Patterson; 3 step daughters Cindy (Phil) Slaubaugh; Sheri (Greg) Winter; Gina Cooper all of Wellman; 6 grandchildren - Bryan Patterson, Sara, AJ, and Devon Young, Stephanie Patterson, Joshua Patterson; 7 step grandchildren - Lindsey Horak, Erin Groff, Shane Miller, Spencer Miller, Skyler Winter, Josie Slaubaugh, Levi McCrosky; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no services. The Powell Funeral Home in Wellman is caring for Jay and his family.
A general memorial has been established and they may be mailed to Shirley or Joey.
