SIGOURNEY-Janice Marie Bollinger White, age 72, of Sigourney, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, following a long illness. Jan was born April 5, 1936, near South English, Iowa, to Frank R. and Vola (Brower) Bollinger. She graduated from Keota High School and took journalism classes at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. On October 4, 1963, she married Larry J. White in Garden Grove, California. The couple lived in California until 1976, when they moved to Sigourney. They co-owned the White House Bar and Grill,. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. She enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye Basketball, camping, entertaining and cooking for family and friends. Survivors include her husband: Larry of Sigourney; two grandchildren: Staci White of Sigourney and Jeffery White of Iowa City; one great grandson: Jaydon Gregory White and two sisters: Joan Sieren and husband John of Sigourney and Joyce Leathers and husband Jerry of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Gregory White and brother: Jack Bollenger and a sister Judy Kahler. Mass of the Ressurection will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney, at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2008, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney, where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 5:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for The Manor House in Sigourney. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
