Janet Lee Grey was born on May 24, 1957, in Anaconda, Montana, a twin daughter of Robert L. And Joan D. Lillie James of Salt Lake City, Utah. The family lived in Montana, North Dakota and later in Maryland, where Janet graduated from Severna Park High School. She was married shortly afterwards in Annapolis, Maryland, to Naval Academy graduate Richard J. Grey. They divorced after 10 years of marriage. Janet lived a short time in Emmetsburg, IA, in Utah, and moved to North English in 2004. She worked at a variety of jobs during her life and most recently, five years at McDonald's in Williamsburg. Janet was an animal lover and opened her home and porch to many four-legged creatures. She also enjoyed watching football and many women's sports. Janet died following a short illness at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. She lived 54 years,3 months, and 21 days. Janet is survived by a son Christopher Ryan Grey; twin sister Jeri Pierce and her son Jimmy of North English, IA; a brother Mark James of Laie, HI; and a life companion Mary (Molly) McLane of North English, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Memorial services will held at 4:00 PM the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English on Monday, September, 26, 2011. Pastor Kirk Statler will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 2:00 PM until service time at 4:00 PM.
