Janet E. Ensminger, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Following the service cremation will be accorded and inurnment, at Forest Home Cemetery, will be at a later date. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to Great River Hospice House or St. Jude Children's Hospital. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.Born February 29, 1944, Janet Elaine was the daughter of Walter Joseph and Pearl Arlene "Connie" DeWitt Hoover. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA. On September 18, 1965, she married Donald Dean Ensminger in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2011. For 31 years, Janet was the office manager for Cargill Hybrid Seeds in Mt. Pleasant. Janet was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She treasured her family and loved spending time with them. Janet liked sewing, playing cards with friends, and trying her luck at various casinos. A traveler at heart, she enjoyed seeing the United States and visiting countries abroad. Those surviving Janet are two daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) Fleagle of Grandview, MO and Marsha (Casey Wandling) Ensminger of Hillsboro, OR; a son, Darin (Carrie) Ensminger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a sister, Mary Ann (Bruce) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a brother-in-law, Roger Messer of Williford, AR; and a sister-in-law, Judy Hoover Warning of Lockridge, IA; She is also survived by five grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Kitts, Tyler Fleagle, Shauna Fleagle, Myles Wandling, and Lily Wandling, along with two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Taylor Fleagle.Along with her husband, Janet was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathy Messer; and two brothers, Ronnie Hoover and Rodney Hoover.
