Janet Bain Ford, 66, of Fairfield, IA, and formerly of Birmingham, IA, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at her home in Fairfield. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service will then follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel with the Reverend Robert Hamm officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Forest Home Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established in her memory. Born August 26, 1941, in Fairfield, IA, Janet Kay Ford was the daughter of Willis W. and Ruth A. Miller Bain. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1961. Janet married John Ford in Salem, IA. The couple later divorced. Janet worked at the Scheaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison, IA. She also did restaurant work in Mt. Pleasant and cooked at the Maharishi University in Fairfield. Janet loved outdoor activities especially camping and fishing. She enjoyed singing and was a die hard Elvis fan. Survivors include one son, Neal (Mickie) Ford of Fairfield, IA, and five sisters, Connie(Kenneth) Hummell of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Joan (Russell)Orton of Denmark, IA, Judy (Robert) Hamm of Meta, MO, Candy Huston and Cristal Bain both of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Also surviving are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
