James Loren "Blue" Vest, Sr. was born September 21, 1945 in Albia, Iowa, the son of Leon and Mary Mae (Davis) Vest. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. On April 14, 1966 he was united in marriage to Beverly Milford in Iowa City, Iowa. They have lived most of their married life in the Wellman community. He worked as an auto technician. He enjoyed car racing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. James died Sunday, June 5, 2005 at his home of cancer at the age of 59 years. James is survived by his wife Beverly, a son: James Vest Jr. and wife Julie of Wellman; a daughter: Tammy Vest and special friend Jerry Bryan of Wellman; four grandchildren: Jamie Vest, James Vest III, Tanya Cue and Travis Cue; three sisters: Betty Mingles of Des Moines, Mary Ellen Albertson of Austin, Texas and Dorsey Wolff of Woodburn, Oregon; and a brother: John Vest of Keota. James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Don and Bill Vest and a sister: Selina Rupp.
