James Ronald (Ronnie) Monaghan was born on October 3, 1929, north of Kinross, IA, a son of James and Regina M. Conrad Monaghan. He attended rural Elm Grove country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Kinross High School in 1947. Ronnie served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Kathy E. Snedigar in Kinross on June 22, 1968. They farmed near Kinross until 1976. Ronnie worked several years for Confinement Specialists and nearly 11 years at the University of Iowa. He was an avid reader, enjoyed mowing and walking in the outdoors. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ronald became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English in September 2005. He died there on Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Ronnie lived 76 years, 2 months and 18 days. He is survived by his wife Kathy of rural Kinross, IA; a daughter Dawn Monaghan of Chapel Hill, NC; and sons Nathan Monaghan of Grinnell, IA and Brandon Monaghan of rural Kinross, IA. He is also survived by a step granddaughter Amanda Triska, a brother Paul Monaghan of Marengo, IA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Phyllis Monaghan.
