James Richard. Williams was born on August 16, 1922, in Eddyville, IA, the son of John E. And Eliza A. Gill Williams. He grew up in the Rose Hill, IA community and graduated from Rose Hill High School. James served in the US Army during WWII in the European-African -Middle Eastern Theaters. After that he served in the National Guard. James was united in marriage to Lorraine W. Koch in Williamsburg, IA on November 24, 1946. The made their home near Wellsburg, Oskaloosa, back near Wellsburg and Victor before moving to their present home near Williamsburg. James farmed full time and also worked at Boise Cascade in Sigourney and Monte Manufacturing. James was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a life member of the Williamsburg VFW and a past commander of the Deep River American Legion. He died on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 17 days. James is survived by his wife Lorraine Williams and daughter Sharon Williams of rural Williamsburg, IA; brothers Charlie Williams of Deep River, IA and John Williams of Hutchinson, KS; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Martha Icenbice. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg with Vacancy Pastor David Mac Kain officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Burial with military rites will be in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River. A memorial fund has been established for the Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg.
