James Keith Mound was born April 30, 1937 in Washington, Iowa the son of Keith and Pearl (Luers) Mound. He graduated from Keota High School. On June 5, 1955 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ingle in Keota. He has lived in the Keota community all of his life where he owned and operated Mound Service Station for 29 years. He was a member of the United Church of Faith, past President of PTA; former Vice President of Keota Community Club, and served on the Keota City Council. He has served on the Keota Fire Department since 1962 and was Fire Chief from 1970 to 1997. He has been a State and Nationally certified Fire Instructor since 1980. Jim died suddenly on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at his home in Keota at the age of 73 years. Jim is survived by his wife Pat of Keota; three children - Randy Mound and wife Fanny of Aurora, IL; Robin Lynch and husband Dan of Kalona; Jeffrey Mound of Iowa City; four grandchildren: Nicholas, Travis, Rachelle and Jeffrey; four great grandchildren; his mother Pearl Mound of Keota; and a brother Roger Mound of Plover, WI. He was preceded in death by his father. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Monday, August 23, 2010 at the United Church of Faith in Keota. Rev. Dennis Hopes will officiate. Burial will be in the Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota. .
