James "Jim" Hodson

James W. "Jim" Hodson, 67, of Rockdale, TX, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 in Round Rock, TX. Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18th at Phillips Luckey Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Hodson, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Phillips Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Adam Straznicky of St. Johns United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be made to Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation, 5090 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77056 or drmarnierose.org. Graveside services with burial will be in the Green Mound Cemetery in rural Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, September 24th at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Jeff McPheron of the Trenton United Methodist Church will be officiating. Jim was born December 31, 1946 in Pleasant Plain, IA to Jack Wilton and Beverly Jean (Litton) Hodson. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1965 and from the University of Iowa with a Civil Engineering degree in 1969. He also received his Master of Science degree in Engineering from Bastyr University in Washington State. On August 30, 1969, he married Charlotte Kay Smith in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Two daughters were born to this union. The Hodson family moved to Rockdale, TX in February of 1980. Jim started to work for Alcoa in the various positions and for the past 15 years, he has served as the Alcoa Public Affairs Manager. He retired on April 1, 2014. Jim was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Rockdale and had served as a Sunday school teacher for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. He served on the Texas Chemical Council Advocacy Committee, Texas Association of Business Advocacy Committee, Texas Taxpayers and Research Association serving on the Board of Directors and Advocacy Committee, Member of Texas Civil Justice League, a member of the Rockdale Rotary Club, was a board member of the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District, and Region G Groundwater Planning Group as Milam County Industrial representative. Jim enjoyed repairing cuckoo clocks and music boxes, riding motorcycles and taking care of his girls. Jim is survived by his daughters, Amanda Hodson Thibodaux and husband Ryan and Jessica Lynn Hodson all of Houston, TX; a brother, Michael Hodson and wife Linda of Waukesha, WI; and a nephew John Hodson of Waukesha, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife, Charlotte on June 23, 1999.
