James Helbling

James "Jim" Helbling, 43, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, June 03, 2013, in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, beginning at 12 noon, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8th at the Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gary Van Nyhuis officiating. Inurnment will be at the Lambirth Cemetery with full military rites at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Bailey and Caleb Helbling Educational Fund. The son of James J. and Murl L. (Eveland) Helbling, James Francis Helbling was born on February 25, 1970 in Moscow, ID. He was a 1989 graduate of Columbus Junction High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy for six years and had been stationed in San Diego, CA. He then attended Indian Hills Community College and received degrees in Laser Electronics and Computer Programming. On September 21, 1997, he married Norma J. Walker in Advance, MO. The family lived for a time in Ft. Wayne, IN where he worked as a laser electrician for Ft. Wayne Wire and Dye. Moving to Mt. Pleasant in 2001, he has worked the last 12 years for Lampline Lighting. Favorite hobbies of Jim have included hunting and fishing. Active in his son's Boy Scout Troop, he especially enjoyed spending time with his children. Survivors include his wife, Norma; a daughter, Bailey; a son, Caleb; his father, James, and step-mother, Darlene, all of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Murl Lewis of Idaho; a sister, Danielle Christensen of Idaho; and two step-brothers Shawn Acord of Des Moines, IA and Cory McNeely of North Liberty, IA. Preceding Jim in death are his grandparents, Jim and Teddy Helbling, Frank Eveland and Mary Cass.
