Williamsburg- James George Wetjen was born December 15, 1949 in Benton County, Iowa. The son of George and Edna (Trimpe) Wetjen. Graduated from Amana High School in 1968. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971. Jim was united in marriage to Marian Denson on August 5, 1972 in Oxford. To this union they were blessed with two sons. They later divorced. Jim drove semi for over 40 years and most recently for Bob Trimpe Trucking. He lived most of his life in the Amana area. Jim enjoyed going to the Minneapolis Moline tractor show in Homestead, being outside mowing and spending time with friends. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. Jim passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at his home at the age of 64 years.
He is survived by two sons: Tony (Ashley) Wetjen of Phoenix, AZ and Scott Wetjen of South Amana; three grandchildren: Colin, Graye and Beau; a brother: Ronald (Judy) Wetjen of Marengo; two nieces: Tammy (Todd) Kesterson and Georgia Wetjen; a nephew Heath (Kristel) Wetjen; and a special friend Shelley Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gordon.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead with Pastor Terry Small officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to7:00 pm Monday at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
