North English dateline James Keiser, age 91, of North English, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the English Valley Care Center in North English after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Pastor Ben Wilson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. A Memorial Fund is for the North English First Responders. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. James Arthur Keiser was born on May 25, 1913, near South English, Iowa, a son of Martin A. and Verna L. Brumbach Keiser. He graduated from South English High School. Jim was united in marriage to Grace Sears on June 1, 1935 in Sigourney. They farmed in the Greene Valley community east of North English until moving into town. Jim was a former board member of the English Valleys Cooperative Creamery and the English Valleys Board of Education where he was active in getting the new English Valleys High School built. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Jim's greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed farming and fishing and had traveled to all fifty states and all of the Canadian Provinces Jim is survived by his wife Grace of North English; a daughter Kathy O'Rourke and her husband John of North English; two sons: Gary Keiser and his wife Joan of Williamsburg and Stan Keiser and his wife Linda of Iowa City; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Christopher John O'Rourke; 5 sisters: Iva Kolsto, Helen Bramhall, Mary Kelly, Cleita Holmes & E. Lucille Keiser; and 2 brothers: John & Martin Keiser.
