James A. Henderson was born Thursday, December 22, 1927 near Keota, Iowa the son of Stanleigh and Mary (Gregory) Henderson. He graduated from Keota High School in 1946 and graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield. He served in the Army during WW II. On July 23, 1950 he was united in marriage to Virginia Clarridge in Fairfield. Jim has lived in the Keota community most all of his life where he was the owner and founder of the Keota Kabinet Kompany. He was a member of the United Church of Faith, Keota Fire Department where he served as Assistant Fire Chief, Keota Community Club, VFW and American Legion. He was a founding member of the Keota Scholarship Foundation, and was a proud supporter of the Keota High School athletics. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Jim died on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness at the age of 78 years. Jim is survived by his wife Virginia of Keota; 6 children - Doug Henderson (Joannie) of Witter, Arkansas; Cindy Keeler (Russ) of North Liberty; Judy Weber (Steve) of Sigourney; Joyce Smith (Steven) of Washington; Sally Henderson of North Liberty; John Henderson (Barb) of Keota; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and his faithful and loyal friend Pepper the dog. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Jason Weber; a son-in-law Bob Peiffer; and a sister Jeanne Smothers.
