She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Edward Merrill Bateman, her son Morris Clayton Bateman (Yvonne), her daughter Grace Elizabeth Rodgers (Larry), her daughter-in-law Nancy Bateman, and her brother Bobby Sumner, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her seven brothers and sisters, her son James Merrill Bateman, John Truett Bateman and her daughter-in-law Marla Jean Bateman.

Jackie was born in Bristol, Florida, Lake Mystic Community. She graduated from Liberty County High School and Florida State University with a BA in Elementary Education and Social Services. Jackie taught many years as an elementary school teacher. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service in the town of Robins, Iowa. But her most important role was to serve alongside her husband as a Pastor's wife for over five decades.

Jackie loved to read, do crossword puzzles and to visit with her family and friends. She had a servant's heart and was loved and "momma" to many. Her home was an open door for all those in need. She exemplified Philippians 2:4-5, "Look not everyman on his own things, but everyman also on the things of others. Let this be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." Her favorite scripture passages were Philippians 2:12-16; 3:20,21 and Galatians 2:20. She had a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus and looked forward to the moment she entered into His presence. She will be greatly missed.
