Jack E. Cantwell, 85 of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, April 04, 2013, at his home. A graveside memorial service will be held on April 20th at the Forest Home Cemetery. If there is inclimate weather, the service will be moved to the Forest Home Chapel. Born February 2, 1928 in rural Henry County, Jack Eugene Cantwell, was the son of Gilbert Stuckey and Opal Verlee (Nihart) Cantwell. Jack attended Mount Pleasant High School and graduated in 1947. In 1951 he married Donna Jean Wherle. They later divorced. In October of 1964 he married Margie A. Thomas. She preceded Jack in death on January 5, 2011. For 53 years Jack worked as a car salesman. He began working for Robert Anderson from 1949-1952. Other dealerships include Lyman-Sheets Motors, Jim Cordes and Neusom-Chittendon. In 2001 he retired being a car salesman from Shottenkirk Motors. With a love for golf, Jack was a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club. He was a past member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #58 and of the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge. Jack was of the Christian faith. He loved to spend time with friends and was always up for playing cards. Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Jean Modak of Palm Bay, FL; one son, Kurt Cantwell of Mojave, CA; four grandchildren; one half brother, Virgil (Linda) Barr of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and two half-sisters, Joyce Young of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Sharon Moxley of Phoenix, AZ. Along with his wife, Jack is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Charetta Cantwell and Verlee VanAmerongen.
