J. (John) Edward Yoder, 87, of Goshen, formerly of Kalona and Donnellson, IA, died at 6:40 am on Wednesday, February 26 at his residence. He was born on September 3, 1932 in Kalona, IA, to Edward and Anna (Ropp) Yoder. On October 11, 1953 in Kalona, IA, he married Mildred Brenneman; she died October 22, 2009. On March 26, 2016 in Goshen, he married Treva Miller; she survives. Survivors in addition to his second wife are his nine children, Steve (Debbie) Yoder of Moravian Falls, NC, Alfred (Alma) Yoder of Irwin, OH, Tom (Ida) Yoder of Donnellson, IA, Clair Yoder of Argyle, IA, Zonya (John) Stoltzfus of Atglen, PA, George (Lorene) Yoder of Leon, IA, Jason (Rose) Yoder of Bristol, Alesia Yoder of Strasburg, PA, Stuart Yoder of Kalona, IA; 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alton (Susie) Yoder, Marvin (Elizabeth) Yoder both of Crofton, KY. He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; four sisters, Viola Schlabach, Edna Mae Yoder, Dorothy Miller, Lydia Miller; four brothers, Sylvanus, Thomas, Lewis Yoder, and Christian Yoder. J. Edward was a farmer, carpenter and a salesman. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Conservative Mennonite Church. He was a former member of Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church in Kalona, IA and New Boston Conservative Mennonite Church in Donnellson, IA. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He was passionate about his faith and loved his family. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:30 pm followed by a 7:00 pm funeral service on Friday, February 28 at Pleasant Grove Conservative Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastors Roy Rhodes and Jonathan Zimmerman. There will also be visitation from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Saturday, February 29 at Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church, Kalona, IA. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 1 at Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church, Kalona, IA. Services will be conducted by Pastor John Hershberger. Burial will be in Fairview Mennonite Cemetery, Kalona, IA.
