Ivan W Ulin

Ivan Wayne Ulin was born August 24, 1926, in Wellman, Iowa, the son of Otis and Hazel (Matthess) Ulin. Ivan attended Daytonville School and Wellman High School before enlisting in the Navy. He served on the USS Tuscon covering the South Pacific from 1944-1946. On May 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Frances Polton in Kinross. He ran the Sinclair Station in Wellman for 21 years, as well as being a long time lover of antiques. In addition to work and family Ivan spent many happy hours on nearby rivers fishing. Ivan passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Iowa city, following a short illness at the age of 89 years.

Ivan is survived by two sons: Douglas (Deborah) Ulin of Wellman, Thomas (Carmela) Ulin of Wellman; three daughters: Cynthia Prohosky of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Ulin of Washington and Heather (Kenny) Fleming of Marengo; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances in 2004, and two brothers Cedric and Ronnie Ulin.

Celebration Of Life Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City.
