Ivan Donald Gibson was born on June 17, 1916, near South English, Iowa, the son of Calvin and Minnie Brower Gibson. He graduated from Kinross High School. On March 11, 1945, he was united in marriage to Mary Harlacher in Westminster, MD. He served his country in the Civilian Public Service during World War II. Ivan farmed over 50 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the English River Church of the Brethren, holding such offices as Deacon for many years, Sunday School Superintendent and Church Clerk. He enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and Dominoes. Ivan died on Monday, December 12, 2011, at the English Valley Care Center in North English He is survived by a son Dennis (Joyce) Gibson of South English; two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary in August 2002 and a brother Merlin Gibson.
