Irvin D. Gingerich was born Monday, August 15, 1910 in Johnson County near Kalona, Iowa the son of Daniel J. and Barbara (Miller) Gingerich. He attended East Lincoln rural school. On November 20, 1938 he was united in marriage to Katie Ann Miller at the Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church. Irvin lived in the Kalona community all of his life where he was owner and mechanic of Gingerich Implement for 40 years. He was a member of the Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church. His family and friends will always remember his strong faith and dedication to Christ. Irvin died on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a brief illness at the age of 94 years. Irvin is survived by a daughter - Ruth Ann Bontrager and husban Norman of Kalona; 2 sons - John Gingerich and wife Julie of Kalona; James Gingerich and wife Sandy of Wellman; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a sister Lydia Miller of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Katie in 2000; an infant daughter; a brother Paul; and a sister Anna.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Pleasnatview Home.
