Irene Reschly

Irene V. Reschly, 97, of Mount Union, IA, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the New London Specialty Care facility. Open visitation will begin after 12 noon on Thursday, September 8, 2016, until 6:00 p.m. Visitation, with family present, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Chapel with Pastor Nancy Sutherland officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Cemetery. On line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com Born October 17, 1918, in Wayland, IA, Irene Verna was the daughter of John and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Boese Imhof. She attended school in Wayland. On August 22, 1937, she married Ralph Reschly in Wayland. The couple lived in rural Wayland for several years, prior to moving to rural Winfield in 1958. Four years later, they moved to the Mt. Union area and then in 1980, moved into town where they lived for many years. Following Ralph's death on August 17, 2008, Irene moved to the Van Vorhies Haus in Mt. Pleasant and for the past year has lived at New London Specialty Care. Irene's greatest love was taking care of her family and home. For 21 years she worked at Metromail, Inc., as a machine operator, prior to her retirement in the late 1980s. Irene was known for making delicious noodles, rolls, cookies, bread, and candy. She enjoyed quilting and having neighbors in for coffee. Over the years, Irene was a member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church near Wayland and Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Ed) Gibson of Bay St. Louis, MS, and Rosi (Louis) Krogmeier of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one son, Denny (Jean) Reschly of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a sister-in-law, Irene Reschly Pankoke of Winfield, IA; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.Along with her loving husband and parents, Irene was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Gary Reschly; a daughter, Louise Nisly Peiffer; and a brother, Glen Imhoff.
