KEOTA-Irene Elizabeth Namer, age 73, of Keota, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness. Irene was born March 20, 1934, in Wallingford, Iowa, to Leon and Florence (Jurries) Fry. She was raised in Emmetsburg and graduated from Emmetsburg High School. On May 26, 1953 she married Ronald Namer in Graettinger, Iowa. Following marriage the couple lived in Curlew, Iowa. They moved to Keota in the fall of 1979. She worked in sales, retiring in 1992. Irene was a member of Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed counted cross stitch, crocheting, sewing and camping. Survivors include her husband: Ron of Keota; two sons: Allen Namer and wife Mary of Clinton and Gary Namer of Keota; four daughters: Wanda Wilkins and husband Arthur of Morrison, Illinois, Kathleen Robertson of Ottumwa, Valerie Decker and husband Dave of Deep River and Laurie Altenhofen and husband Randall of Harper; 25 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her mother: Florence Fry of Spencer; five sisters: Annette Potter of Fostoria, Sharon Koenck of Spencer, Lois Heller of Spencer, Sandra Johnson of Ruthven and Doris Stevens of Decatur, Tennessee and two brothers: Leonard Fry of Spencer and Larry Fry of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her father and sister: Ruth Sabin. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Rich Adam officating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Keota Q.R.S. or Keota Fire Department.
