WILLIAMSBURG - Ida Marie Witte was born July 3, 1910 near Homestead, Iowa the daughter of George and Gesina (Steinke) Sandersfeld. On September 19, 1929 she was united in marriage to Martin F. Witte at St. John's Lutheran Church near Homestead. She has lived in the Williamsburg community all of her life where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and was a charter member of the Immanuel Ladies Aide. She enjoyed quilting and growing roses. Ida died on Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the English Valley Care Center in North English following a brief illness at the age of 97 years. Ida is survived by 2 sons - Harlan Witte and wife Shirley of North English; Don Witte of Logan, Iowa; 2 daughters - Janet Maschmann and husband Ed of Victor; Joann Strang of Fairfax; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister - Gertrude Vogt of Williamsburg; and a brother - Vernon Sandersfeld of Homestead; and a sister-in-law - Ruth Sandersfeld of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 14, 1994; a granddaughter Debra Stewart; a grandson Scott Maschmann; a son-in-law Terry Strang; 3 sisters Irna Maas, Alma Mueller and an infant sister; and 3 brothers - Martin, Elmer and Wayne Sandersfeld. Celebration of Life Service will be on 10:30 AM Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7pm on Wednesday at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for Immanuel Ladies Aide or the Lutheran Interparish School.
