HAYESVILLE-Ida Mae "Mazie" Lance, age 82, of Hayesville, died Monday, August 24, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Ida Mae was born July 14, 1938, in Keswick, to Doney and Lola (Ritter) Smich. She grew up in Muscatine and attended Sigourney High School. On July 26, 1965, she married Wesley Lance in Sigourney. Following marriage the couple lived in Chicago before moving to Hayesville. Ida Mae owned the Maid-Rite in Sigourney and the Country Barn in Hedrick. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, reading and being outside.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and her two special companions: Molly and Muffy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Wesley in 1971; three sisters: Wanda Baird, Gladys Finch and Kathryn Long and three brothers: Kenneth McKinney, Wesley Smich and John Smich.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Township Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Mask usage is required at the visitation and funeral.
