Williamsburg-Ida Marie Halverson was born May 24, 1907, in York Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry and Maria "Mary" Dorothea Baack Schwarting. She was baptized June 23, 1907 by Rev. Barnovsky at Immanuel Lutheran Church. In March 1915, she moved with her parents to a farm east of Conroy, Iowa. Ida attended Trinity School in Conroy and was confirmed on March 28, 1920 by Rev. R. Kabelitz. Ida was united in marriage to Arnold Marvin Halverson on November 29, 1929 in Conroy by Rev. E. Hempel. She has worked at the Conroy Grocery Store, Conroy Telephone Company and in 1956 moved to Williamsburg and worked at the Me Too Grocery Store, Dr. Dougherty, Glandorf Appliances and Schanz Furniture. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Ida became a resident at Colonial Manor in Amana in 1999. She died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Colonial Manor after short illness at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 10 days. Ida is survived by two daughters: Marjean (Norman) Glandorf and Joan Enochson all of Williamsburg; 7 grandchildren: Susan Glandorf, Steven (Rhonda) Glandorf, Brenda Glandorf, Linda (Orie) Yoder, Jerry Enochson, Julie (Ray) Herrick and Brian Enochson and 10 great grandchildren: Amy Herrick, Kate Herrick, Curtis Enochson, Molly Enochson, Anthony Enochson, Tia Glandorf, Tara Glandorf, Laura Glandorf, Kimberly Enochson and Jesse Yoder; a sister Adella Brockshus of Homestead and a step sister Adele Maas of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arnold; infant grandson Stuart James Glandorf; three brothers: Vernon, Edmund and Arnold Schwarting; two sisters: Edna Brockshus and Esther Stanerson and two step brothers: Allan and William Schwartin. and a son-in-law Keith Enochson. Celebration of Life Service will be10:30 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Pastor Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
