Howard Dean Brown was born on April 22, 1934, in Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of William J. And Edene Olson Brown. After high school, Howard served in the US Marine Corps. After his military service he studied welding, electronics and refrigeration maintenance courses He worked many years as a maintenance mechanic and electrician for Fisher Control and Ralston Purina, retiring in 1995. On August 10, 1958, Howard was united in marriage to Arlene Katzer in Winterset, Iowa. Howard died in his home in Keota on Saturday April 26, 2014 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his wife Arlene of Keota; his children: Tami Smith of Bethany, OK; Jody (Troy) Brown of Rockford, IL; Kris Brown of Keota, IA; Darla (Tom) Lake of Kimballton, IA; Charles (Cheryl) Brown of Marshalltown, IA; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers: Donald Brown of Elliott, IA; Richard Brown of Pella, IA; sisters: Georgia Resch of Red Oak, IA; Rosie Keast of Red Oak, IA; Rhonda Wickering of Albion, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn brother, and brothers David, William and Denny Brown. A memorial service for friends and relatives will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Keota Senior Center. There will be no visitation.
