Williamsburg- Howard Dean Collingwood was born November 24, 1929, in Millersburg, Iowa, the son of Harry and Caroline (Faas) Collingwood. Howard was confirmed on April 2, 1944. Howard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Howard was united in marriage to Donna Mae Mitchell on June 12, 1955 in Williamsburg. Howard drove a school bus for Williamsburg from 1973 until 1997 and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg where he served on the Board of Elders for 12 years and has been an usher. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. Howard died on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Compass Memorial Hospital, at the age of 94 years.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, Lynette Wooster (Larry) of St. Peter, IL; son, Kevin Collingwood of Marengo; granddaughter Dr. Elizabeth Wooster-Pierson (Michael) of Pella; and two great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Ethan Pierson. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Mervin, Orlo, Harold and Cecil Collingwood, and two sisters, Leota Siems and Lorena Teggatz.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am Friday, January 12, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Thursday at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for Lutheran Interparish School and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
