Hilda Josefina Grimm (nee Costa-Carrasquillo)

Hilda Grimm, age 85, of North English, IA, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, Iowa.

She was born on October 30, 1939 in Hato Rey, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico daughter of Jose Costa Delgado and Concepcion Carrasquillo de Leon.

She was formerly employed as an administrative assistant and retired from the University of Iowa Dental School. After retirement, she found some fun and happiness spending over 20 years together with her husband, Richard Grimm in North English, Iowa. She enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the Iowa summers, spending time with their children, traveling, and in the evenings watching classic movies and John Wayne westerns. 

She will always be remembered for meeting her responsibilities, working hard, giving the best childhood to her children regardless of how challenging circumstances were, and being a relentless promoter of education and pushing her children to do the best in school to have a better future. For her children, grades were first before anything else, and she channeled her two children into Puerto Rico’s second science & math high school.

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Richard L "Dick" Grimm, 89, of North English. She is survived by her sister, Teresa de Jesus Costa-Carrasquillo from Aibonito, Puerto Rico, daughter, Hilda Concepcion "Hildy" Bastemeyer nee Gonzalez-Costa (Clinton, IA) and son, Esteban (Steve) Gonzalez-Costa (Stillwater, MN), grandchildren Theresa J. Johnsen (Duluth, MN) and Stephen J. Gonzalez-Solberg (Minneapolis, MN). 

There will be no funeral services and per her wishes she was cremated.
