Herbert William Hopp

Herbert William Hopp, age 91, of Wellman, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Parkview Manor, in Wellman. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Victor, with Pastor Stuart Rethwisch officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Herbert is survived by his son Daniel Hopp, of Iowa City; a grandson Thomas Scott of Ladora; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margy in 1987, a daughter Kristin, two sisters and six brothers.

Herbert was born November 26, 1928 in Williamsburg, the son of William and Rose (Wille) Hopp. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and was very proud of his service time. Herbert married Margy Schulz on November 26, 1954 at the Methodist Church in Millersburg. They made their home just west of Williamsburg on a farm that they owned and operated. Herbert loved going out for long drives and taking short trips with his son Dan and Flo. He was a Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
