SIGOURNEY-Henrietta Yaeger, age 87, of Sigourney, died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Sigourney Care Center. Henrietta was born August 16, 1922, in Sigourney, to George and Alta (Martin) Cassens and attended Stoney Point School. On April 14, 1942 she married Leo Yaeger in Lancaster, Missouri. The couple lived and farmed near Sigourney, where Henrietta was a charter member of the Stoney Point Hustlers, was active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary and was a 4-H leader several years. She enjoyed cooking and her grandchildren. Survivors include a son: James Yaeger of Fontanelle; daughter: Shirley Conkity and husband Wayne of Harper; six grandchildren: Melissa Bunch, Mike (Laura) Appleby, Nikki Pfantz, Angela (Toby) Freese, Jeremy (Maude) Conkity and Clinton Conkity; five great grandchildren: Andrew and Devin Pfantz, Zachary Appleby, Jeremy and Saharra Conkity and sister: Dorothy (Glenn) Dyson of Sigourney. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo in 2005; son Lee Edwin Yaeger and brother Andrew Cassens. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010, at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, where there will be a wake service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for St. Mary Catholic Church, Washington County Relay for Life or the Keokuk County Historical Society.
