KEOTA-Helen M. Tinnes, age 90, of Keota, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Maplewood Manor in Keota, following a brief illness. Helen was born July 19, 1918, near Keota, to Edward J. and Berga E. (Flander) Peiffer and received her education in rural schools. On October 17, 1939, she married Milo W. Tinnes at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. A lifelong resident of the Keota, Harper and Webster communities, Helen worked at Amana Refrigeration for five years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and enjoyed her family, cooking and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include three sons: Ronald and wife Donna of North Liberty, Robert and wife Margaret of Omaha, Nebraska and James and wife Judy of Webster; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Milo in 1999; two brothers: Omer and Leonard Peiffer; two sisters-in-law: Rosa and Marie Peiffer and two nephews: Craig and Tommy. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a wake service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Parish or Washington County Hospice. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Helen and her family.
