Helen Theresa Osweiler was born December 21, 1932 near Oxford, Iowa the daughter of Raymond and Consoleta (McCabe) Leeney. She graduated from Cosgrove High School. On June 14, 1952 she was united in marriage to Joseph George Osweiler in Oxford. They made their home in rural South English. Helen worked as a secretary for Amana Refrigeration for a short time and then was a homemaker. She was a member St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing golf..Helen died on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 77 years. Helen is survived by a son Doug Osweiler and wife Deena of South English; three grandhildren - Leslie Osweiler of Williamsburg; Carissa Dietrich and husband Chris of Keswick; Joseph Osweiler of South English; a brother - Gene Leeney and wife Bridgit of Oxford; and two sisters - Alice Kyle of Iowa City and Jocile Leeney of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother Raymond. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Fr. Joseph Roost Presiding. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Little Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Powell Funeral Home in North English where a Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Alzheimer's Research.
