Helen Matilda Heitshusen

Williamsburg- Helen Matilda Heitshusen was born August 2, 1925 in Iowa Township, Iowa County the daughter Egon and Margaret (Witte) Schwarting. Helen was baptized August 25, 1925 and Confirmed March 17, 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School. On June 1,1945 Helen was united in marriage to Robert George Heitshusen at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a life long resident of the Williamsburg area, living on a farm northeast of Williamsburg until moving to town in 2008. She enjoyed playing cards, reading large print and flowers. She was member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Helen passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 89 years.

Helen is survived by her son: Thomas (Jackie) Heitshusen of Williamsburg, and daughter: Barbara Heitshusen of Flandreau, SD; granddaughter: Marie Chanell; three great grandchildren: Harmony, Alicia and Alexis Griggs. A sister-in-law Helen Schwarting of Williamsburg. She was precede in death by her parents, husband Robert, grandson Glen Heitshusen, 3 brothers: Orville, Oren and Harold Schwarting.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Pastor Stuart Rethwisch will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
