Helen Marie Kleinschmidt

SIGOURNEY-Helen Marie Kleinschmidt, age 89, of Sigourney, passed away on Grandma Helen Day, Friday, July 26, 2019, at her home.
Helen was born January 7, 1930, in Keokuk County, to Carl W. and Mildred (Kerber) Pence and attended Sigourney Schools. On August 15, 1946, she married Dwight Kleinschmidt. Dwight passed away in 1975 and for the last 30 + years Helen has lived with Gerald Spicer. A lifelong resident of Keokuk County, Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, flowers, birds, visiting with family and friends, hosting the coffee drinkers and, above all, her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters: Connie (Mike) Winn of Ollie and Barb Kleinschmidt of Hedrick; Gerald's children: Dixie (Pete Swearingen) Neff of Ottumwa and Cheryl (Neil) Carpenter of Hayesville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and brother: Donnie Pence of Sigourney. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dwight; sons Rick and Bob; brother Robert Henry in infancy; Gerald; his two daughters Julie Spicer and Sheila Clubb and two grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Martinsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019, at the funeral home.
