Helen Joan Lee, age 79, died at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Webster, Iowa, with Rev. John Tunnicliff officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 18th from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Webster United Methodist Church. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. Helen Joan Lee was born on January 20, 1933, at home near Webster, Iowa, the daughter of J. W. And Mary Weber Snakenberg. She graduated from Webster High School and worked several years at Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids. Helen married Roscoe Lee on September 20, 1959, in Sigourney, Iowa. Helen lived in the Webster community until becoming a resident of the English Valley Care Center in January 2012. She was a member of and former Sunday School teacher at the Webster United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the UMW. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and she kept a meticulous home. She enjoyed having card parties with the Webster neighbors and going to Texas and Arizona to visit their son Kevin and his family. She is survived by her husband Roscoe of Webster; sons: Bryan (Valerie) Lee of Webster, Iowa; Kevin Lee of Chandler, Arizona; five grandchildren: Zachary, Jason, April, Ben and Giselle Lee. Also surviving is a sister Mignon Dumont of Sigourney, a brother David Snakenberg of Sigourney, and a brother-in-law Gene Snakenberg of Sigourney. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Marietta Snakenberg, half-brother Ray (Paduke) Snakenberg and a brother-in-law Jerry Dumont.
