North English- Helen Louise Jennings was born March 14, 1921 in South English, the daughter of John M & Alice (Noffsinger) Grove. She was united in marriage to Hugh William Jennings, together they loved to travel to California and Kentucky. She enjoyed the California coast line, horse races, flowers and birds. Helen was a volunteer for Mercy Guild in Iowa City for 15 years and also volunteered in the Mercy Hospital gift shop. Helen died on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the English Valley Care Center, North English at the age of 95 years.
She is survived by her three sons: Dick Jennings of Placenta, CA, Dennis (Starr) Jennings of Iowa City and Gary (Connie) Jennings of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren: Samantha, Shannon, Troy (Penny), Chris, Ellen & Drew; a great grandson: Quinn; a great granddaughter Abby; two sisters: Catherine Reiland of Iowa City and Mary Hayes of Kinross; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; husband; a sister Esther Claypool and a brother Joe Grove.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 am on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the English River Church of the Brethren, South English, Iowa. Pastor Diana Lovett will officiate. Burial will be in the Brethren Cemetery, South English. Visitation will be on Monday, from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Memorials may be given to the English Valley Care Center.
