Hazel Ann (Doddema) Griffiths

Hazel Ann (Doddema) Griffiths, age 73, of Brooklyn (Holiday Lake), Iowa and Mesa, Arizona passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Chelsea, Iowa. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the Holiday Lake Community Center in Brooklyn, Iowa from 11 to 2. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Kent Chapel Church at Holiday Lake, 1006 Lakeshore Drive, Brooklyn, Iowa 52111 or a charity of your choice. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hazel was born May 21, 1947 in Cedar Falls, Iowa and was raised on the family farm in Grundy County. She graduated from Dike High School and from there, she studied and graduated from AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Kenny Griffiths in May 18, 1974. Hazel retired from Heartland Co-op.

Hazel was a free spirit and lived every single minute of every single day to the fullest. She was an avid sports enthusiast. Her hobbies included, but weren’t limited to, playing cards, traveling, kayaking, fishing, wintering in Arizona and lake life in Brooklyn, but her most cherished hobby was time spent with her family and friends close and far. Hazel never missed an opportunity to socialize and was always there for anyone that needed her. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Hazel is survived by her sisters, Carol Crouse of Des Moines and Patty (Bob) Biersner of Dike, a sister-in-law Jackie Griffiths of Indianola, nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Kenny) Griffiths, parents, Elso Jr. and Lois (Smith) Doddema, a sister, Shirley Bradford, and a brother-in-law Gene Crouse.
