Harvey Huedepohl

Williamsburg-Harvey August Albert Huedepohl was born November 27, 1924 at rural Conroy, Iowa County, Iowa. He was the son of Rudolph and Katharina Teggatz Huedepohl. Harvey was baptized on December 28, 1924 and confirmed on April 2, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Conroy.
Harvey graduated from Hilton High School in Conroy in 1943. He worked as a farm hand before going to the Army. Harvey entered the U.S. Army on March 15, 1945. He and brother Vic, who was in the Navy, met overseas in Thailand. He was discharged from the Army on December 24, 1946 with Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Technician 5th grade- Philippines. He married Esther Trimpe on January 31, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Homestead. They farmed near Homestead, Millersburg and moved to rural Williamsburg in 1951. Harvey was employed at Amana Refrigeration from 1966-1990. He enjoyed farming, bowling, cutting wood and reading the paper at Arby's. Harvey has resided at Colonial Manor, Middle Amana since June 2013. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg. Harvey passed away on May 16, 2015 at Colonial Manor at the age of 90 years 5 months and 18 days.

Survivors include two daughters: LaMar Stanerson(Keith) of Conroy; Vida McCoy (Jim) of Otley, IA; two sons: Neal Huedepohl (Teresa) of Conroy, Bruce Huedepohl of Williamsburg, Daughter-in-law: Kathy Huedepohl, Iowa City; a sister: Neva Norris, 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Esther (2009), son Glenn (2004), his parents; sisters, Dorothy in infancy, Marlene Stevens, and brothers Eldon and Victor.


Services: 10:30 am Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Millersburg, burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy. The Pastor Paul Nus will officiate.
